    I will never use again the ship from or to Napoli, it was a nightmare. The ship had tecnical problems and therefore it not sailed. The company sent us a text to inform us when we were already at the port with our tickets ready. It is not fair at all. I feel cheated and damaged!

  • "Far better than expected"

    I was braced for some less than enjoyable experiences taking ferries between Civitavecchia and Olbia, then Cagliari and Naples. As it turned out both trips were excellent in just about every respect. Comfortable and clean cabins, a good sleep and a decent coffee at the cafeteria in the morning. Definitely an experience to repeat in future, far more enjoyable than taking the plane. My only complaint would be about embarkation at Civitavecchia. The port is not remotely pedestrian-friendly. If you're going from train to boat, take a taxi or bus from the station. The walk is fine for the first 15 minutes, a nightmare thereafter.

The Sardinian capital city of Cagliari lies on the Mediterranean Sea coast and is regarded as one of the greenest Italian cities as it has a number of public gardens that visitors are able to enjoy. The most wooded site in the city is the 62 acre Monte Urpinu Park and is located on a low hill that is covered in pine and evergreen oak. Also in the city is the Park of San Michele, along with its medieval castle, and the Terramaini Park that has a pond which is home to flamingos and other wading birds.

The city can trace its history back to prehistoric times and has at various points in its past been under the rule of several civilisations. Of interest to many visitors to the city are the prehistoric domus de jenas, which are prehistoric chamber tombs that date back to between 3,400 and 2,700 BC. There is also a Roman amphitheatre, three Pisan-era towers, a large Carthaginian era necropolis and a Byzantine basilica.

The port of Cagliari is divided in two sector, the old port and the new international container terminal. The port has scheduled services by passenger ship to Civitavecchia, Naples, Palermo and Trapani.

The Italian city of Naples is the largest city in southern Italy and is certainly one of the most beautiful, especially around the Bay of Naples. The city was founded by the Greeks and was later enlarged by the Romans all of which is reflected in the city's rich history and stunning architecture. Located to one side of Naples is Mount Vesuvius, and near to the bay are the picturesque islands of Capri, Ischia and Procida, all of which are located close enough for day trips departing from Naples.

The centre of Naples is quite compact and is full of palaces, spectacular churches, monasteries, convents and castles and is the perfect place to stroll around and marvel at the spectacle. Popular attractions are the Duomo, which is an ancient cathedral that dates back to the late 13th century and early 14th century. Also of interest is the Palazzo Reale, the Teatro San Carlo and the Museo Archeologico Nazionale, which is filled with some of the best archaeological exhibits in Italy. Finally, there is the Napoli Sotterranea which is a series of underground tunnels, stairs, rooms and halls that are right in the heart of the city.
