Port Denarua is on a small private island in the northwest corner of Fiji’s mainland, Viti Levu. It is the main gateway to some of the beautiful islets along the northwest coast and is just twenty minutes from Nadi International Airport by car. It is considered the island’s finest marina facility, offering restaurants, a spa, a large supermarket and a wide selection of shops. You can also book tours and activities inside the terminal. There are a number of luxurious hotels on Denarau Island where you can relax overnight before your journey as well.
On the island of Tavewa, one of the string of isles that make up the Yasawa archipelago off the north coast of Fiji, is Coralview Island Resort. Named after the vibrant coral-reefs that hem the coastline, this small seafront community is bursting with untouched tropical beauty; a spectacle of long, silver-sand beaches and lush palm-tree woodland humming with life. The port of Coralview Island is little more than a section of the beach whose crystalline shallows are enclosed by sand-banks that form a small rectangular inlet of the South Pacific Ocean. It’s an area that can only be reached through a narrow entrance inaccessible to larger vessels. There are no roads or a public transport network on the island meaning that the inland areas can only be traversed on foot. The port itself is devoid of any facilities save for those offered at the Coralview Resort just a few steps away across the beach. One ferry service currently runs from the port at Coralview Island. An Awesome Adventures Fiji line makes the short trip south to the port-town of Denarau on the Fijian mainland, a daily route that whisks passengers into the azure waters of Nadi Bay.
