Eriskay Guide

Eriskay Ferry Port

The port of Eriskay sits on the west coast and is the gateway to the Isle of Barra to the southwest. Although the port is just small slipway, the terminal building has a seated waiting room, toilet facilities and a public telephone. Getting to the terminal is simple, with a bus stop located at the top of the slipway and a country lane heading south from the villages of Eriskay, Balla and Haunn. Eriskay’s beautiful rolling hills are home to around 400 indigenous namesake ponies, so be sure to spend some time exploring the countryside and to keep an eye out for this rare Hebridean breed.

Ardmhor Guide

Ardmhor Ferry Port

Ardmhor is one of two ports on the Isle of Barra, Scotland, and is situated on the island’s northeast corner. Built in 2002, the ferry terminal is a gateway to the nearby Isle of Eriskay, with frequent crossings provided every day. The terminal building has a seated waiting room, toilet facilities and a public telephone. Port Ardmhor is easily reachable from everywhere on Barra, as it sits just off the circular A888 road. If driving from Castlebay, follow the A888 northbound and turn right at North Bay after six miles, following signs for ‘Sound of Barra Ferry’.
