About New Providence

New Providence is the most populous island in the Bahamas, 180 miles to the east of Miami, Florida in the USA. This 21 mile-long island offers high-energy experiences in beautiful surroundings, with a wide range of thrilling activities like 50-foot waterslides and stunning beaches hosting late-night parties. This is apparent none more so than in the capital city, Nassau, with its vibrant downtown and bargaining market sellers. However, New Providence is not without its fascinating cultural heritage. Centuries-old ruins can be found in the capital alongside brilliant museums giving detailed insights into the island’s dealings with pirates, providing fun for all the family. Given its central location in the Bahamas, New Providence is a good departure point for many popular destinations in the archipelago, with numerous routes departing Nassau on the north east coast.

About Andros

Andros is the largest region of the Bahamas, encompassing three major islands called North Andros, Mangrove Cay and South Andros, as well as hundreds of smaller cays. With a total area greater than all the other seven hundred Bahamian islands put together, Andros is an expansive mix of pristine beauty and untamed wilderness, known nationally as the ‘Big Yard’. A sizeable section of the enormous outback includes the largest National Park System in the country, containing the North and South Marine, West Side and Blue Holes National Parks, and a Crab Replenishment Reserve. The seascape doesn’t disappoint either, with the world’s third largest barrier reef protecting the coast, and the highest number of blue holes per square-mile on the planet. Some of which are said to hide mythical sea creatures named the Lusca and Chickcharney. Andros lies close to Nassau on New Providence, the Bahamian capital, and there are weekly ferry routes from there, lasting just a few hours, to Andros Town on the island’s eastern coast.
