Grenaa Guide

Grenaa Ferry Port

Situated on the eastern edge of the Jutlandic peninsula in Denmark is the town of Grenaa, a budding seaside resort that looks over the shallow Kattegat area of the North Sea. Though still a busy centre for overseas trade, Grenaa is also known for its curved stretch of sandy coastline that was named as one of the two best beaches in the country in 2006. The Mols Bjerge National Park can be found nearby too; a large expanse of open moorland and thriving forests that sit upon rolling terrain hewn by the harsh conditions of the last ice age. As capital of the Djursland region of Denmark, travelling to the port of Grenaa is easy. The Ringvejen road leads west from the centre of town towards the larger city of Randers where motorists can join the E45 motorway that extends along the entire spine of the country. A bus station located just outside the ferry terminal allows passengers to travel downtown or to one of the other nearby settlements too. The port itself is relatively large and mainly dedicated to handling the cargo that is carried in from across the Baltic Sea. The passenger terminal, found at the far end of the road that leads into the harbour, has very few facilities beyond a docking area and toilet. Currently only one ferry route operates from the port of Grenaa. A Stena Line service travels east across the Kattegat multiple times throughout the week, taking passengers to the town of Varberg on the western coast of Sweden.
