Kyllini Guide

The Greek port town of Kyllini is located in the Kastro-Kyllini region of Greece and lies on the Ionian Sea coast around 11 km to the west of Andravida, 28 km to the north of the island of Zakynthos and 39 km to the north west of Pyrgos. The town has a beautiful beach, with golden sand, which is located in the area around Fournia Beach. Visitors also like to take advantage of the natural spas of Kyllini Baths. One important attraction in the town is Chlemoutsi Castle which is made up of the main castle, a hexagonal building, with an inner courtyard. The castle's fortification from attack are its walls which have towers located along its length. The town is also around 40 minutes by car from Ancient Olympia.

From the town's port there are several ferry connections to Zakynthos, Cephalonia, Argostoli, Poros, Ithaka and Sami.

Argostoli Guide

The town of Argostoli is the capital of the Greek island of Kefalonia which lies in the Ionian Sea. With a population of roughly 4,000 the town is located at the end of a bay that is surrounded by beautiful forests and mountains. Before an earthquake struck the town in 1953 there were many beautiful Venetian buildings lining the streets but alas no longer exist. Reconstruction of the town, with the help of the Greek Government, has unfortunately not paid particular attention to traditional Greek architecture and colours. At the entrance to the town lies a 650 meter long stone bridge, the Drapano Bridge, which was built by Charles de Bosset. In the bridge's middle there is a small pyramid, from de Bosset, dedicated to the British Empire.

During the summer months the modern town of Argostoli is a hive of activity with tourists and has many things to see and do. There is a lovely coastal promenade, bordered by Palm trees and colourful pebbles from the sea, is worth a stroll and leads visitors to the small ferry quay where boats depart every 30 minutes to the town of Lixouri.
