The beautiful Greek island of Skopelos lies in the Aegean Sea and is located between the island of Skiathos and the island of Alonissos and is popular with tourists, especially with families and couples. The island is perhaps most famous for its role in the Hollywood movie Mamma Mia, where some scenes were filmed on the island. Especially well known is the Church of Agios Ioannis Kastri, which is know sometimes referred to as the Mamma Mia Church. The island's beaches are lovely and have war, crystal clear waters and are perfect for spending lazy days in the sun on. The island's port is located in Skopelos Town and along with Glossa are the two main villages on the island. Both are built on a hill and provide visitors with spectacular views of the Aegean Sea.
The island is served by hydrofoils and ferries from the ports of Volos Magnesia and Agios Konstantinos, Phthiotis on mainland Greece which also allows connections to and from Alonissos and Skiathos. In summer there is also a ferry to and from Kymi in Euboea.
