Changi Guide

Changi Ferry Port

Found at the eastern end of Singapore’s diamond-shaped isle is the planning area of Changi, a vibrant tree-covered district surrounded on three sides by the warm waters of the Singapore Strait. It’s an area of considerable national importance. The commuter airport in Changi, also home to the city-state’s military air base, stretches across almost the entire width of the peninsula and is widely regarded as the country’s main transport hub. The ferry port in Changi is located just a few miles east of the airport on the beach-lined coast of a narrow inlet of the Johor Strait. Ferries leave from a floating pier to one side of the small terminal building, a point that can only be reached via a foot-bridge leading to the undercover waiting platforms. Those driving to the port can follow the Changi Coast Road, a long stretch of highway that cuts a straight-line south from the harbour all the way to the opposite coast. The terminal is found at the end of a one-way road off the highway, just beyond a small passenger car-park. Buses regularly stop outside the entrance before traversing the routes that lead around and into Changi airport. Currently only one route operates from Changi port. A Limbongan Maju ferry line makes the half-hour trip to the Malaysian port of Tanjung Belungkor multiple times throughout the week, a service that whisks passengers north across the border.
