Located around 200km south of Tokyo, the volcanic Japanese Island of Mikurajima lies in the Pacific Ocean. There are copious mountains and hills which are ideal for embarking on a hike in the early hours of the morning, especially considering the stunning scenery engulfing the island. Due to the relatively few visitors, Mikurajima has remained largely untouched by tourism, making it one of the cleaner and quieter islands belonging to Japan.
