Located on Saturna Island, Lyall Harbour is primarily used as a gateway to mainland Canada. Lyall Harbour is most well-known for the myriad of recreational parks that are dotted around the region, making it one of the most refreshingly green areas in North America. Days can be spent exploring the beautiful landscape and trekking along the ideally placed walking trails, it’s especially pleasant in the summer months with the sun shining down. Whilst travelling around the area, many visitors are likely to stumble upon the unique wildlife found in the area – a perfect setting for animal lovers. Away from the great outdoors, a slither of history and culture is on offer with the Sooke Region Museum. It’s open every day during the summer months, and every day other than Monday for the rest of the year, so tourists will have ample opportunity to enjoy what’s on show. The area is relatively small so the majority can be covered by foot, though after a long day of walking, the bus service operating around Lyall Harbour may seem like the best option. Fortunately for passengers arriving or departing, the bus stops directly outside of the port so it is an ideal way to access the ferry terminal.
